Tobacco use is a risk
factor for many diseases, especially those affecting the heart, lungs, as well
as many cancer . To make people aware of the side effects of tobacco, "TOBACCO
AWARENESS RALLY" was organised, from Erode Government Hospital to Collector
office. The NSS volunteers in association with Department of Management studies
of Kongu Engineering College participated in this rally on 04.08.2017(Friday).
Nearly 100 volunteers took part in the rally. We started from our college at 7:00 a.m and reached the venue at 7.30 a.m. The main focus of the rally was to create awareness about the dreadful effects of consuming tobacco among the people around Erode.
Around 7.45 a.m., rally was initiated by Thiru.Venkatachalam,
Correspondent. The NSS volunteers along with the MBA students started the rally
from Erode GH and ended at Collector office, covering 2 kms. The students
raised slogans relating to the cause and effect of consuming tobacco.
Raising awareness on most pressing environmental issues of our time is more important than ever. As per the saying the students made their active participation in this rally and finally ended it by 8.30 a.m. The volunteers reached college by 9.00 a.m.
