(HEALTH CAMP)
The National Service Scheme of Kongu
Engineering College had organized a medical camp which was named "NALAM". It was arranged for the
benefit of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff. This camp included
eye and dental checkups, thyroid, heamoglobin and diabetes test along with
blood donation session. It was organised in association with Vasan Eye Care, ABBOTT
and Thyrocare Centre, KMC, Government Primary Hospital, Chennimalai and Erode
blood bank.
The chief guest of the function was Dr.Sasikumar.,
Eye Specialist., Vasan Eye Care. The inaugural function of NALAM 2k17 was
started at 9.00 a.m. with the great support of NSS Programme Officers Dr.A.Manimaran, Mr.S.Praveen Kumar and Dr.R.Devi
Priya. After the prayer song , the kuthuvilaku was lighted by the chief guest.
Then the welcome address was given by a NSS Volunteer followed by which Dr.R.Devi
Priya., NSS Programme Officer gave a detailed speech about Nalam. She quoted
the proverb "Health is Wealth" and she briefly explained about the
importance of Nalam.
The special address was given by the
chief guest Dr.Sasikumar. He started his speech by addressing the faculties,
students, NSS Programme Officers, and volunteers. He gave a brief note about
the history of our college. He listed some of the common diseases that affects
people such as headache, diabetes, etc. He also suggested remedies to overcome
those diseases. He explained about the
harmful effects of e-waste and asked the NSS Volunteer to involve in
demolishing it. Then he motivated the NSS Volunteers to involve in several
different activities that benefits the society.He insisted the gathering to donate eyes. Then there was an interactive session
in which various questions were raised by the gathering. And he gave relevant
answers to them. At last the inaugural function came to an end with the vote of
thanks by a NSS Volunteer.The most expected medical camp NALAM-2K17
began around 10.00 a.m. And the NSS Volunteers sincerely worked for the
betterment of the students health. They splited themselves into various groups
since the session was planned in four venues such as Swami Vivekanandha Seminar
Hall, Mahathma Gandhi Seminar Hall, EEE Mini-conference Hall and Indoor
stadium.
