CAMPUS CLEANING

The National Service Scheme
of Kongu Engineering College had organized the first campus cleaning programme
on Sunday (02.07.2017) in the college campus. For the academic year 2017-2018
the first event for the NSS volunteers, begun with the campus cleaning programme.
Every month on the first or third Sunday, our NSS Volunteers would involve in campus cleaning programme to spread
plastic awareness among their friends.
The cleaning programme was
started by 6.30 a.m. Around 90 NSS volunteers of third and final years had
involved in the campus cleaning. The volunteers had cleaned various places in
the college campus to remove the plastic wastes. The volunteers also cleaned
the non- biodegradable wastes like plastic materials and other unwanted waste
materials in the college campus. The volunteers involved actively in cleaning
the college campus.
Firstly, they were split into several
groups. In which one group had gone to clean the surroundings of IT Park, lawns
etc.. Some volunteers had cleaned the ground, surroundings of Kongu Convention
centre and Kongu Polytechnic Canteen. The other group had gone to clean the
surroundings of dispensary and Staff Quarters and simultaneously the remaining
volunteers had cleaned the surroundings of fruit stall, girl’s pathway and
around the temple.
The NSS volunteers had completed the cleaning
process by 11.30 a.m and there was an interaction session for the NSS
volunteers in which all the volunteers shared their views and ideas.
Dr.A.Manimaran., NSS Programme officer,
discussed about the upcoming activities of the National Service Scheme
that is planned for the current academic year with the volunteers. Then the campus
cleaning came to an end at about 12.00 p.m.
