The National Service
Scheme of Kongu Engineering College organized the inaugural function for the
academic year 2017-2018 in Swami Vivekanandha seminar hall, IT Park on
10.08.2017(Thursday).The inaugural function was started around 4:30 p.m. It was
initiated by Mr.Vivekkanna,IV NSS Volunteer by welcoming the juniors to the
NSS. He welcomed the juniors by motivating that they could enrich their talents
in NSS by some qualities such as leadership, communication, teamwork etc and
added that it would be a great platform to develop their skills. He also gave
an initiative to the new event named “Puthagam pesuthae”, which is to be
initiated soon in NSS.
The welcome address of the function was
delivered by Mr.K.Muthukumar, IV NSS Volunteer. The activities of NSS, for the
forth coming academic year 2017 - 2018 were listed out by Mr.Pranesh, IV NSS
Volunteer. Followed by, final year NSS volunteers shared their experience and
views about NSS and the activities so far organised in NSS. They suggested the juniors to pay their active
participation in all events.
A
special address was given by the NSS Programme Officer Dr.S.Devi Priya. She presented her views through a presentation
focussing on teamwork. She added some
epic stories that depicted the example for an NSS volunteer. She explained the
basic quality of National Service Scheme i.e. volunteership, which
differentiates a NSS volunteer from others. She also added that “Alone we can
do so little, together we do so much”.
Then
the speech was continued by Mr.S.Praveen Kumar, NSS Programme Officer. He
stated the collection of blood at emergency situations. He shared his views
about jallikattu protest and also added that life is not only for an entertainment but also
lies in servicing the society. He motivated the second years to actively
participate in forth coming events and also to share their ideas which could be
implemented through NSS.
Finally, vote of thanks was
presented by Ms.M.Dhivya,IV NSS Volunteer.Later, refreshments were provided to
the volunteers.At last the function came to end by 6:30 p.m.
