NALAM (HEALTH CAMP):(28.12.2017 and 29.12.2017)
The National Service Scheme of Kongu
Engineering College had organized a medical camp for two days named "NALAM" on 28.12.2017(Thursday)
& 29.12.2017(Friday) in the campus. It was arranged for the benefit of the
students, teaching and non-teaching staff and other workers. This camp includes
eye checkup, dental checkup, general health checkup, skin care, thyroid,
haemoglobin, diabetes, asthma, ECG and ENT test. It was organised in
association with ABBOTT and Thyrocare
Centre, IRTT, Vision Express, Titan Eye Plus, Sugam Hospital, Erode.
The chief guest of the function was Dr.Jayanthi
Prabakaran MBBS., DGO., Obstetrician & Gynaecologist., Abishek Medical
Centre., Erode. The inaugural function of NALAM was started at 9.00 a.m. with
the great support of NSS Programme Officers
Dr.A.Manimaran, Mr.S.Praveen Kumar and Dr.R.Devi Priya. After the prayer
song, the kuthuvilaku was lighted by the chief guest. Then the welcome address
was given by the NSS Volunteer followed by which Prof. S.Kuppusami, Principal,
Kongu Engineering College addressed the NSS volunteers. He appreciated the efforts of the NSS team in
keeping the campus clean and creating awareness about various diseases like
Dengue, Tobacco and so on. He talked about the importance of NALAM
health camp.
The special address was given by the
honourable chief guest of the day Dr.Jayanthi Prabakaran. She started her
speech by addressing the faculties, students, NSS Programme Officers and
volunteers. She was overwhelmed by the work of NSS team of Kongu Engineering
College. She described some of the common diseases that mainly affects women and
presented it through her presentation. She also suggested some vaccines which
are very essential to a girl child in her life time such as Rubella vaccine,
cervical cancer vaccine etc. She insisted the volunteers to create awareness
regarding these vaccine among their friends and family members. Then she listed
some of the food habits which could help women to keep themselves healthy. Then
there was an interactive session in which various questions were raised by the
gathering. And she gave relevant answers to them. At last the inaugural
function came to an end with the vote of thanks by the NSS Volunteer.
The most expected medical camp
NALAM-2K17 began around 10.00 a.m. And the NSS Volunteers sincerely worked for
the betterment of the students health. They split themselves into various
groups since the session was planned in four venues such as Swami Vivekanandha
Seminar Hall, EEE Mini-conference Hall, Sir.C.V.Raman Seminar Hall and Maharaja
Auditorium.
Firstly, the Eye check up was set up
in Swami Vivekanandha Seminar Hall which was carried out by Vision Express
care, the dental check up was set up in Mini Conference Hall. And ECG, skin
check up, eye, General Medicine, ENT was
carried out by IRTT, Sugam Hospital and Titan Plus in Maharaja Auditorium.
Simultaneously in Sir.C.V.Raman Seminar Hall Diabetes and Asthma check up was
organised. Next day, the camp proceeded
with Eye checkup, Asthma, haemoglobin and thyroid test in Swami Vivekanandha
Seminar Hall, Sir.C.V.Raman Seminar Hall, and EEE Mini Conference Hall
respectively. Thyroid and Haemoglobin test was done by ABBOTT and Thyro care.
Many faculties, drivers and students
underwent various checkups in the respective venues giving keen interest to
their health. They also got clarification about their health issues with the
doctors. Everyone got benefited by this medical camp. The health camp lasted
until 5.30p.m. at their respective venues. As a token of love and gratitude
thank note was given to all the doctors
who dedicated their service to the NALAM-2K17.
