23.02.2017 (Thursday), the NSS Volunteers started their journey from the campus
around 9.30 a.m. to the Isha Yoga Centre and around 1.30 p.m. they reached the
AdiYogi Statue at Isha Yoga Centre. After finishing their lunch, the volunteers
recorded their visit. The volunteers of Isha Yoga gave a water proof band to
all the NSS Volunteers and it was provided in order to identify the NSS
Volunteers. They told them about the stay areas and on the way to stay area the
NSS Volunteers worshipped the 112 feet AdiYogi Statue standing in a majestic
way. It was very embarrassing to see the statue and the NSS Volunteers asked
the devotees about the statue. The bust made of steel, weights 500 tons and
took 2.5 years to design and 8 months to build it. This is the tallest bust in
the planet, recognizing the first yogi’s unparalleled contribution to humanity.
The iconic bust symbolizes liberation, representing the 112 ways in which one
can attain to one’s ultimate to the science of yoga.
Around
5.30 p.m. the Volunteers reached the stay area and the Isha Yoga Volunteers
were very happy to saw the NSS Volunteers and they congratulated them that they
were doing great things at a very young age. The stay area was provided
separately for boys and girls and the NSS Volunteers take rest for some time.
After finishing the dinner around 8.30p.m.,some of the NSS Volunteers gone to
take rest and the remaining NSS Volunteers (boys) involved in the works such as
directing the way to the devotees, they cleaned the kitchen, filled the water
tanks and arranged them in the respective places. After finishing their
respective works they reached the stay area about 2.00p.m.
The next day, the volunteers started
their work around 6.00 a.m. The NSS Volunteers separated themselves into
various groups and they discussed about the works. Then they started directing
the devotees to the breakfast hall and they also served the breakfast to the
devotees.They welcomed them happily by greeting “Namaskaram”. Around 7.30a.m., after finishing their
breakfast, they involved in various works like cleaning the places in and
around the Adhi Yogi Statue, transported the food from the kitchen to the
serving area and servedthe food to the devotees.
They also involved in lot of works
like packing the foods and transporting them to the devotees at “Thiyana Lingam”
who involved in fasting. Simultaneously, a set of Volunteers involved in the
crowd control, directing them to the drinking area, food serving area and managing
the huge traffic in and around the AdiYogi Statue. The place was separated like
Thaneer Panthal, Brahmaputhra, Noyyal, Malai Vaasal etc...Hence the NSS
Volunteers are separated into groups and sent to various places for guiding the
people and most of the NSS Volunteers were in Thaneer panthal, in order to
maintain the large amount of crowd and to direct them.
Around 2.00p.m, the NSS Volunteers had their lunch at Thaneer panthal and take rest for a short period of time. Sharply at 5.30p.m they involved in controlling the crowd and assembled in the place where opening ceremony is likely to occur.
The
huge crowd of students, people, devotees and volunteers looking like the waves
of seas were waiting for the ceremony and the arrival of our honorable Prime
minister. Mr. Narendra modi and Mr. Sathguru., Founder of Isha Yoga. Sharply, at
6.05p.m three helicopters come around the sky. Around 6.10p.m., ourhonorable Prime
Minister Mr.Narendhra Modi arrived to the place Thiyana Linga. Then warm
welcome was given to our Prime Minister, Mr.Sathguru explained him about the
Isha yoga and he governed the Prime minister. According to the Hindu mythology
Nandhi is the first and foremost god to be worshipped, hence they worshipped
the god Nandhi and they involved in meditation for a while. After worshipping
the Thiyana Lingam, they reached the AdiYogi statue at about 7.00p.m. Finally
both of them reached the place where the sacred festival was celebrated by the
devotees of Lord Shiva.
Our Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi unveiled the 112 foot tall statue dedicated to “Adiyogi” on the foot hills of Velliangiri Mountains. The statue has been funded by Isha foundation, founded by the popular yoga Guru Jaggi Vasudev famously known as Sathguru.Mr.Sathguru welcomed our Prime Minister, devotees and the Volunteers to the Maha Yoga Agni. Then he said that many things had been done through the science of Yoga to this world. He told that this year is very prosperous and about 100 million people will learn nursery Yoga’s. He also added that our beloved Prime Minister is a Yoga Veda and he asked him to lighten the Maha Yoga Agni. Then Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the devotees and volunteers by greeting “Vanakkam” in Tamil. He then spoke for few moments about the importance of this festival, he said that Mahashivaratri symbolizes a union of divinity with a purpose of overcoming darkness and injustice. Then he said that there are many mantras but the mantra which is identified by lord Shiva, is called Maha-Mrityunjayi mantra. And he also talked about the importance of yoga that “India has given the great gift to the world, by practicing yoga a spirit of oneness is created yet the essence of it has not changed”. He also added that, Yoga is the catalytic agent for transformation. He said that the place which we gathered is a source of inspiration to all and asked everyone to analyze and understand it. At the time of his speech there was a huge crowd prevailing in that place. The NSS Volunteers actively involved in the crowd control. He finished his speech by quoting that “Yoga is the journey from ‘me’ to ‘we’ and he extended his gratitude to Mr.Sathguru for bringing this to us. Then the cultural Program started which takes place the whole night. The NSS Volunteers involved in serving the dinners to the devotees and after the dinner around 11.00p.m., they reached the stay area around 11.30p.m. On 25.02.2017 around 7.30 a.m. they vacate the stay areas and started their journey. Like crores of Indians across the length and breadth of the nation. The NSS Volunteers also feels delighted to be a part of MahaShivarathri.
