INAUGURAL FUNCTION (30.07.2016):
            The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College organized the inaugural function for the academic year 2016-2017 in Sri Ramanujan seminar hall, IT Park on 30.07.2016(Saturday).The program was started around 4.00 pm. The inaugural function was preceded by Thiru .V.K.Muthusamy, Correspondent, Prof.S.Kuppuswami, Principal, NSS Programme Officers Dr.A.Manimaran,Mr.S.Praveen Kumar and Dr.R.Devi Priya
           The function was started with the prayer song by our NSS volunteer Selvi.R.Selva Rani. The NSS activities of the academic year 2015-2016 were listed out through multimedia. Then the lightening of ceremonial lamp was done by Thiru .U.L.Dhanavelmurugan, Chief Guest.The welcome address was given by Selvi.K.Jeevitha, NSS volunteer. Then the year plan for the academic year 2016-2017 was given by Dr.R.Devi Priya, NSS Programme Officer.
The precedential address was delivered by Thiru. V.K.Muthusamy, correspondent.  He addressed the gathering and congratulated the NSS programme officer and also asked the volunteers to focus on activities related to upgradation of the society. He shared many of his experience regarding the social activitiesand motivated the students to do more social activities and also encouraged the students. He requests the students to keep the surroundings clean, to donate the blood and said that donating the blood mould our body and mind. He motivated the NSS volunteers to involve in all the activities related to service, which does not means the academics. Finally he blessed all and asked them to do many service with dedication and asked them to give the best.

       Prof.S.Kuppuswami, Principal started his special speech. He addressed all the dignitaries on and of the dais. He told that the NSS team is too active and doing many events. He said that the prevalence of service minded people was increasing nowadays, so that the NSS team can develop better works related to society. He also insisted the NSS volunteers to save the energy and water which is going to be trouble in future.Around 4.40 p.m Mr.U.L.Dhanavelamurugan, Secretary of Vivekananda Blood donor Club, Erode, Chief Guest Started his speech by blessing the Country.He welcomed everyone and told that is a memorable day in his life because Dr.A.P.J.Abdulkalam’s funeral was done a year back on this day and also he was admitted in the hospital for the treatment of Blood Cancer. So he thanked our institution for welcoming him as the chief guest and gives a speech regarding the Social Services. He asked us the reason for joining National Service Scheme and asked to explain about it. He talked about his school life and felt proud to work for villagers.
He told that National Service Scheme is the main reason to start the Vivekananda Blood Donation Club. He first started by collecting O-ve blood initially and the turned to collect all blood groups which emerge into the Blood Donation Club. The Club was started as the Youth Club along with his friends.He offered 25000 units of blood during emergencyand also donated 375 pairs of eyes.
         He quoted that, “Every socially concerned people will be a NSS Volunteer in their social life”. He helped many people during the time of Tsunami in Nagapattinam for the removal of dead bodies and also provided medical help for the people with the help of Mr.Radhakrishnan, Collector of Nagapattinam during that time. He added the point, we should not feel for the past but look towards the future.He received many awards like “Outstanding New Line award”, “President’s Discrimination award” and “Maximum Eye Donation award”. He told that team work is the reason for all these awards and quoted that Swami Vivekananda’s line “Arise Awake and stop not till the goal is reached”. He said that we should use the chance to help others and thanked for the opportunity provided to him and ended by saying NSS Volunteers should be proud of NSS.
           Thiru. V.K.Muthusamy, correspondent was welcomed to give Momento to the Mr.U.L.Dhanavelamurugan, Chief Guest as the token of love.Finally the function came to an end by 5.00 pm with the vote of thanks by Selvan.S.Kavin Prakash. He thanked everyone on and off the dais. Then refreshments were provided to all the students.

SPECIAL CAMP 13.02.2017 (MONDAY) – FIRST DAY SESSION I      The NSS volunteers of Kongu Engineering College planned for a special camp at Kanagapuram, Jeeva nagar and Velampalayam from 13-02-2017 to 19-02-2017.The special camp was titled as “ILAYA BHARATHAM”. Around 140 NSS Volunteers started the journey from KEC Campus by 2.00 p.m. and reached the camp site at 2.15 p.m. We were assembled in the ground; the camp was begun with a prayer song, NSS song and thought for the day by the NSS volunteers. We were divided into different committees and   started the work around 2.45 p.m. The NSS Volunteers cleaned the campus by clearing the stones and grasses in and around the school campus. CAMPUS CLEANING PROGRAMME - 1

      The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College had organized the campus cleaning programme on Sunday (05.07.2015) in the college campus. Every month of first or third Sunday, the NSS Volunteers will involve in campus cleaning programme to spread plastic awareness among their friends. The cleaning programme was started by 6.30 a.m. The volunteers had cleaned various places in the college campus to remove the plastic wastes.       The Volunteers separated into two groups and started cleaning the campus. The volunteers cleaned the non biodegradable wastes like plastic materials and other unwanted waste materials in the college campus. The volunteers found easy with their works on cleaning because the wastes in the campus were reduced when compared to the previous campus cleaning.
