NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

CAMPUS CLEANING - (02.09.2017) The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College had organized campus cleaning programme on   (02.09.2017) in the college campus. Our NSS Volunteers would   involve in campus cleaning programme to spread plastic awareness among their friends.          The cleaning programme was started by 6.30 a.m. Around 100 NSS volunteers of second, third and final year students involved in the campus cleaning programme. The volunteers had cleaned various places in the college campus to remove the plastic wastes. The volunteers also cleaned the non- biodegradable wastes like plastic materials and other unwanted waste materials in the college campus. The volunteers involved actively in cleaning the college campus.            Firstly, they were split into several groups. In which, one group had gone to clean the surroundings of IT Park, lawns etc. Some volunteers had cleaned the ground, surroundings of Kongu Convention centre and Kongu Polytechnic

SWACHH BARATH-2017: In association with Swachh Barath Scheme, Dry Waste Management Plan was planned by the Erode Corporation . Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign by the Government of India , covering 4,041 statutory cities and towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country. The Volunteers of National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College involved in creating awareness among the people to collect dry waste such as plastic bags, water bottles etc., from their surrounding .   An orientation program was   arranged by the Erode Corporation on 14.07.2017 in Kongu Engineering College to instruct regarding the Dry Waste Management   at 4.30 p.m to the NSS volunteers. Officials such as Mr.Thangaraj,SO. ,Mr.Jaheer,SO., explained regarding the awareness and also Mr.Roshan, Founder, Mr.Shakil Muhammad, Organiser, of 'No Food Waste', an NGO, also   joined to specialize this session. TOBACCO AWARENESS RALLY(04.08.2017)                        Tobacco use is a risk factor for many diseases, especially those affecting the heart, lungs, as well as many cancer . To make people aware of the side effects of tobacco, "TOBACCO AWARENESS RALLY" was organised, from Erode Government Hospital to Collector office. The NSS volunteers in association with Department of Management studies of Kongu Engineering College participated in this rally on 04.08.2017(Friday).           Nearly 100 volunteers took part in the rally. We started from our college at 7:00 a.m and reached the venue at 7.30 a.m. The main focus of the rally was to create awareness about the dreadful effects of consuming tobacco among the people around Erode.          Around 7.45 a.m., rally was initiated by Thiru.Venkatachalam, Correspondent. The NSS volunteers along with the MBA students started the rally from Erode GH and ended at Collector office, covering 2 kms. The students raised

BLOOD DONATION CAMP (02.08.2017)                         The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College in association with Department of Management studies organized the Blood donation camp on 02.08.2017.The NSS team along with IRT Perundurai Medical college Hospital and Erode Government Hospital arranged blood donation camp at Indoor Stadium. The blood camp was started at 9.00 a.m.                The NSS volunteers registered the details of all the blood donors. Around 11.00 a.m Thiru Venkatachalam,Correspondent and Prof.S.Kuppuswami, Principal visited the camp and encouraged the team to continue the work. The students, teaching and non-teaching staff of various department eagerly participated in the blood donation camp and donated their blood.                   Nearly 40 NSS volunteers participated in the blood camp and guided the blood donors in the camp. About 112 units of blood were collected
