NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

THYROID CAMP (PHASE-I):      The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College in association with ABBOTT and Thyrocare Centre, Erode had organized a Thyroid camp in the month of March, 2015 at Maharaja Auditorium. They had undergone TSH test (Initial Screening test for thyroid) in the month of March. The National Service Scheme in association with ABBOTT and Thyrocare Centre, Erode had again organized another Thyroid camp for those who had got positive result in TSH testing on 23 rd September at Kalingarayan Seminar Hall (Civil Block). In that TSH test 150 members got positive results. Those 150 members were made to undergone next phase of testing called T3 and T4. Totally 15 NSS volunteers took part in this thyroid camp.  The program was preceded by Prof.S.Kuppuswami, Principal, Dr.A.Manimaran, NSS Programme Officer (Unit I) and Mr.S.Praveen Kumar NSS Programme Officer (Unit II). CAMPUS CLEANING:        On 13th September, 2015 the NSS volunteers had our fourth campus cleaning programme in the college campus. The NSS volunteers splitted into groups and started their work at 8.30 am. The NSS volunteers cleaned the campus with involvement and they were guided by the senior NSS volunteers. The volunteers cleaned the non biodegradable wastes like plastic materials in and around the college campus. After finishing the campus cleaning around 10.00am the NSS volunteers started with the next work of tree plantation. The NSS volunteers cleaned the areas and started digging holes for planting saplings near staff quarters block. The first sapling was planted by Dr.R.Parameshwaran, Head of the Department, Department of Mechatronics Engineering. BLOOD DONATION CAMP (10.09.2015)     The National Service Scheme of Kongu Engineering College organized the first Blood donation camp on 10.09.2015. The NSS team, Shanthi Service Scheme and JCC club joined together and organized the blood donation camp in Maharaja Auditorium. The blood camp was inaugurated by V.K.Muthusamy, Correspondent, Prof.S.Kuppuswami, Principal and Prof. E.K.Lingamurthy, Vice President at 10.00 a.m. The NSS volunteers registered the details of all the blood donors. The students, teaching and non-teaching staff of various department eagerly participated in the blood donation camp and donated their blood. Nearly 60 NSS volunteers participated in the blood camp and guided the blood donors in the camp.  About 555 units of blood were donated on the blood donation camp.
