CUDDALORE FLOOD RELIEF
The people of Cuddalore
were affected by heavy rain during the month of November. The people from various villages of Cuddalore
lost their belongings and several documents. Even many of them lost their
agriculture lands and they were helpless. The National service scheme of Kongu
Engineering College involved in collecting materials from nearby areas like
Perundurai, Erode, Tirupur, Paerumanallur, Lakshmi Nagar, and Kavundapadi. The
Alumni of Kongu Engineering College from various Countries supported the
affected peoples of Cuddalore financially. The Faculties of Kongu Engineering
College supported both financially and by providing materials to the affected
peoples. The volunteers gathered food for about 550 members, 500 bed sheets, 20
boxes biscuits and 30 boxes dresses (old and new). They also collected some
basic home need things like candles, matchbox, soap, shampoo, oil, medicines,
bleaching powder, water, dates and so on. These things cost nearly about 2.5
lakh.
Some volunteers from
Kongu Engineering College went to Cuddalore to distribute the collected things.
Initially they identified the needy people with the help of alumni of Kongu
Engineering College from Cuddalore. The Volunteers distributed the materials to
the peoples of three different areas. Initially they have distributed the
materials to the peoples of manjakuppam, and then to Poovaali area peoples,
which is 30 km from the main Cuddalore city. At last the remaining materials
were distributed to the peoples in the camp. In addition to that the Volunteers
had also involved in cleaning the affected areas.
